A Cool Guide to the Different Types of Snowboards

August 14, 2022

Did you know the snowboarding and skiing industry is back and better than ever, with millions of participants in the 2021-2022 season? Hitting the slopes is a great way to take advantage of the snow and have a good time in lower temperatures.

Have you ever wondered how to choose from all of the types of snowboards? Here are some of the different types of snowboards and how to choose a snowboard that fits your lifestyle.

Freestyle Board

If you love to learn snowboard tricks, then you should think about a freestyle board. These boards are great for doing tricks in snow parks or halfpipes.

In addition, the freestyle board is more forgiving and very friendly for beginners. If you want to try out a freestyle board for tricks without committing, then you may want to rent snowboards before you buy them.

You can also ride a freestyle board both forward and backward. The board is symmetrical, which means that both ends are equal and it is much easier to navigate as well.

All Mountain Board

For beginners or people who just want to snowboard with ease, the all mountain board is a great choice. Also known as a freerider board, it is the most adaptable of the snowboard types.

With the all mountain board, you can snowboard down mountains, carve, and also do tricks. If you want to invest in snowboarding, then the all mountain is your best bet for any snowboarding activity.

Since these boards only go forward, they have different designs on the tip and tail. They are easy to maneuver, making them a great board for people who want to learn to snowboard.

Carving Board

If you are at a higher level of snowboarding, a carving board may be the best fit for you. Carving boards tend to be narrower than other types of boards. This design allows them to make crisp, clean turns with less chance of falling.

Carving boards work best on fresh snow that has not been ridden on yet. They are also known as Alpine boards. Many professional boarders prefer them due to their versatility.

However, carving boards are not recommended for beginners. They are more difficult to navigate, so you may be better off with a wider model that will help you learn the ropes.

When you see professional snowboarders in exhibitions or competitions, then chances are they have a carving board. These boards allow quick navigation and steep turns when you go down a slope at a faster speed.

Learn All About the Types of Snowboards

Whether you are a new snowboarder or you want to change your board, it is important to know about the types of snowboards available. With this guide, you can make the best decision for your snowboarding needs.
