The amount of men who are investing time in their self-care is rising. In fact, a recent study showed that over sixty percent of men were participating in more self-care practices than they have in the past.

Whether it’s time spent at the gym, with friends and family, or simply taking a half hour to yourself, there are countless ways to improve your self-care routine.

But, are you ready to make the jump? Read on to learn the top self-care tips for men.

1. Go to The Spa

It may seem like a girly activity, but a trip to the spa can be a great choice for men. It’s important to relax and let go of the stress of your everyday life, and the spa is an easy way to do it. It’s not just about skincare and manicures, it’s about dedicating yourself to unwinding.

2. Take Time For Yourself

It can be way too easy to get too caught up in your busy life.  But, one of the top tips for self-care is to ensure that you’re taking time for yourself, every single day.

You can use this personal time to meditate or spend time doing your favorite hobbies. Even when you’re incredibly busy with work, try and take at least ten minutes to unwind.

3. Form Good Habits

You should also try and create better habits for yourself when you’re learning to practice self-care. Getting on a good sleep schedule is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Do your best to reduce problematic coping habits, like relying on drugs or alcohol. If you don’t do any physical activities, try and add some to your routine.

4. Prioritize Your Mental Health

Self-care in and of itself isn’t enough to strengthen your mental health. You should also take steps to make sure that your mental health is always doing its best. Talk to a mental health professional, like a counselor, about your thoughts and feelings.

Work on promoting positive thoughts, rather than negative ones. A gratitude journal, for example, can be a helpful tool for helping you remember all the great things in your life.

If you ever find yourself feeling the need to take breaks or separate yourself from certain situations, don’t be afraid to do it. You should always put your own personal needs first.

5. Spend Time With Loved Ones

A lot of men don’t dedicate specific time to connecting with their friends or family. But, staying connected socially can be an important part of the self-care process. If you have trouble keeping track, set aside a specific time each week to call and text your friends.

Try and schedule a meetup with you and some of your loved ones at least every few weeks.
